About us
Newground is a London-based architecture practice founded in 2013. Our name represents our objective to contribute to the built environment with inventive solutions rooted in experience. In so doing, we aim to be aware of what has come before, engaged with what is happening and alert to what is to come.
Well-resolved design solutions achieve a sense of inevitability. We pursue practical, legible and creative solutions to complex challenges by engaging with each project’s specifics.
Sectors
While we consider ourselves specialists in certain sectors, we believe the same principles of good design apply across all sectors.
• Housing: social, build to rent, extra care
• Office and retail
• Masterplanning and regeneration
Scale
We work on projects large and small. We have proven that smaller teams can design and deliver large and complex projects, often more creatively and efficiently than larger competitors. We also recognise the need to keep our portfolio varied, with a range of projects of different scales keeping our output fresh and relevant.
Approach
We design with delivery in mind and, wherever possible, aim to remain involved throughout all stages of our projects from concept to completion to help translate design ideas into places and buildings that people can appreciate.
Our team
We work as a focussed, responsive, collaborative team out of our ground-floor studio in the heart of London Bridge.
At Newground, we understand that our office culture has a direct bearing on our work. Our open-plan studio reflects our inclusive approach to design and helps us maintain a vibrant, supportive workplace. We are committed to equal opportunities and encourage all our staff to reach their full potential through involvement in all aspects of design.
